I’m A What..?

In short, I’m a Software Engineer now.

Some Background:

I recently graduated from the full-time Software Engineering Bootcamp at Flatiron School. Let me tell you, it was definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. Just to set the record straight, learning how to code is not easy. Continuing to learn after bootcamp even harder. Where do you begin? Do you go back to your school projects? Do you start fresh? Did you learn anything? *googles “how easy is it to forget things after bootcamp?”* *Finds job posting* This matches what I learned! But… I don’t think I’m ready to apply for that job. What if I fail? Can I really call myself a Developer?

Clearly, I’ve been battling the Imposer Syndrome Monster. All through out my journey I’ve been hearing people talk about Imposter Syndrome and I was even able to look back and recognize the times it’s crept into my life. However, this time around it was pretty hard to notice. It wasn’t until I talked through some struggles of the past week with my Career Coach that I was able to put two and two together. This self doubt, was indeed the monster poking it’s head into my life.

With that epiphany, I found it very important and necessary that I revisit my “why” and also to fully ground myself in who I am now. To name not only my Imposter Syndrome Monster but also my current self.
